Wild Wing Oshawa Week 1 Review

Welcome members to the 2010 season, approximately the 42nd ? 51st year (depending on who you talk to) of the Oshawa Touch Football League.

This season brings together a bunch of old, familiar, and new faces to the league from all over the Durham Region, the GTA, and places unknown. With 13 teams (10 last season) the league is stronger and more competitive than ever. 2010 brings with it the intoduction of the Bulldogs, the Killer Beezzz, the Ruff Riders and Westney FC. Teams such as the Sun Devils (2009's Renegades) and Buccaneers (the merge of 2009's Crew and Hosers) are new teams filled with many familiar faces. The Rogues (2009 'A' Champions) and the revamped Raiders (2009 'B' Champions) will once again provide stiff competition for the opposition.

If week 1 is any indication of how the season will be played, then there are going to be some exciting games as the summer creeps into the fall.

Hats off to all of the Executive team for their hard work in prep for the season. Thank you as well to our league sponsor Wild Wing Oshawa.

This year brings a change to our weekly review format, with a general overview of the week and some interesting facts, tips, and stories from the OTFL.

"Most Colourful Game of the Week" - Bulldogs (bright yellow) VS Buccaneers (bright orange) in an extremely tight game, with the brightest colour scheme matchup, possibly ever, in OTFL history. The colour scheme remained prominent with the game ending on a last second game winning Rouge (Red en Francais) by the Bulldogs.

"OTFL 2009 'A' Championship Rematch" - All Blacks VS Rogues was higher scoring then one would expect from two staunch defensive squads. Some lucky bounces led to some big plays for both teams.

"OTFL Players of the Week" - Mike Stoter, Hawks, 13 points, 4 sacks, Game MVP, Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP and Desmond Johnson, Killer Beezzz, 18 points, Game MVP and Offensive MVP. Mike and Desmond along with the 5 other game MVP?s received a $10 gift card for Wild Wing Oshawa.

If you are unsure of any of the rules check out the Touch Football Ontario website www.tfont.com, or email us at oshawafootball@gmail.com. Make sure to hit up the message board if you have anything to say, questions in general, or thoughts (please keep it cordial).

Remember to come back to Wild Wing Oshawa (corner of Ritson and Beatrice) after your game and get 10% off your order (excludes alcohol & any promotional deals). Also keep your bill and give it to your team rep or a member of the executive as we get 10% of our total sales off our year end banquet. We have a very generous sponsor in Wild Wing Oshawa let?s be sure to show them our support.

Yours in Football,

OTFL

RE: Wild Wing Oshawa Week 1 Review

To all the newbies of the OTFL, this league continues to thrive and expand because of our well respected and hard working executives.

There are several players on teams this season who have returned to the league after playing elsewhere with praise of the OTFL as a whole.

Well done guys and keep up the good work.
