Week 9 picks

Wow the season is just about over. Only 2 weeks left. Last week was my worst week of the season so far as I went 5 - 4. Hey, if your worst week is still a winning week I guess that's not too bad but I'm definitely going to improve on those numbers this week.

O.k. onto the Week 9 picks.

CENTRAL

Sun Devils v. All Blacks

The Sun Devils and All Blacks match up for the second time in as many weeks. I see a much better Sun Devils team coming out this week as they will end their 2 game losing streak with a big win over the All Blacks.

Rogues v. Lancers

Would be nice to see the Lancers get their full squad out for this game as it has the makings for an entertaining match. Don't get me wrong though regardless of how many players the Lancers get out they will still lose to the Rogues.

Buckeyes v. Lancers

Wow both of these teams have been so hard to pick this year. With the Buckeyes key injuries and the Lancers lack of attendance you just never know who is going to show up for these two teams. As I have heard TJ is back I'm and the Lancers are on the back end of a double header I'm going to go with the Buckeyes to win a close one here.

HENRY ST.

Buccaneers v. Hawks

Huge game for the "C" division here. Both of these teams struggled getting their guys out last week so hopefully both teams realise the importance of this game and get their full squads out. The last time these two teams played they tied so it's such a tough game to call. I'll flip a coin for this one. My coin tells me the Buccaneers will pull this one out and keep their chances alive at winning the division.

Raiders v Bulldogs

KA, thanks for the heads up on the Turtles double forfeit and Bulldogs rescheduling. To answer your question Raider 1 yes you are still getting lucky. Let's have a look back at your season so far this year, shall we?

Week 1 -> nice win over the Hounds I'll give you that.
Week 2 -> Losses to both the Sun Devils and the Buckeyes. The Sun Devils are a great team and this game was before some of the Buckeyes major injuries so not too bad but definitely nothing impressive there.
Week 3 - > Loss to the Rogues. That's a tough stretch for sure.
Week 4 -> loss 38 - 6 to the Bulldogs. YIKES.
Week 5 -> another huge loss. This time to the All Blacks
Week 6 -> An expected win over OPC
Week 7 -> A nice (not spectacular) win over the Buccaneers and then you get the Mustangs with no QB and beat them 13 - 12. (Lucky)
week 8 -> A win over a depleted Lancers team (Lucky).

So with all that said give me my favourite team the Bulldogs to win this one and kill what "momentum" the Raiders have going.

DONEVAN

OPC v. Hounds

The Hounds are on fire right now. You would have to be crazy to pick against them. Give me the Hounds

OPC v. Longhorns

OPC would be wise to preserve their energy in their game against the Hounds to make sure they are not too tired for this game against the Longhorns. The Longhorns have been looking a little better in recent weeks. I'm going to go with the Longhorns as my upset special this week over a tired OPC team.

Mustangs v. Longhorns

Sure I said the Longhorns are looking a little better but this game will be no contest. The Mustangs will roll over the Longhorns in this one.

There are the picks. Let's hear your thoughts.

RE: Week 9 picks

I figured I would just hijack your thread, JA, and put my picks in here...

Sun Devils vs All Blacks:
I also think that the Sun Devils will be stepping back onto the field angry this week, looking to right some wrongs from last. Sun Devils will take this without mercy, assuming of course that they bring enough guys.

Rogues vs Lancers:
I have had some inside knowledge that attendance will be another factor for the Lancers... with neither that super amazing PACAS, nor QB#1 likely being there. devastating for the Lancers... Alex Veira did good in getting all those points a few weeks back, because I think the Lancers may only be able to muster up 1 score against the Rogues.... and then the Rogues will take the spotlight and shine... Give me the Rogues to take this pretty much without breaking a sweat.

Lancers vs Buckeyes:
This is originally where I was going to take the Lancers, having not gained enough confidence in the Buckeyes yet... .. but... hearing about their numbers being on the low side.... I am obviously going to have to take the Buckeyes to win this - especially since the Lancers will be, as JA pointed out, on the tail end of their double header.

HENRY ST:

Hawks vs Bucs:
OH THOSE GLORIOUS BUCS! THOSE AMAZINGLY TALENTED, FIGHT THROUGH IT ALL, RECRUITING OFF THE ROADS IN THE NAME OF FOOTBALL BUCS.... Knowing what I know from being head cheerleader of the Hawks....... they are sitting right now with only 3 confirmed + 1 injured player... so.. being that thats only 3.3 players (not even 3.5), this would have me thinking the Bucs would take this easy... but.. now I see the bucs complaining that they have shitty attendance too as of late.. so who knows what the hell will happen... I will leave it as this: If both manage to field a full team - I take the Hawks hands down. If the Hawks only have 6 guys, and the Bucs 7+, then I take the Bucs... .. yes, i can give variables.... if you guys make it that hard and not have your team show up, how can i give proper predictions? Im looking forward to seeing an absolutely amazing "week in review" worthy show from the Bucs... so they can be the limelight of all the bias us execs are seemingly all about....

Raiders VS Bulldogs:
Bulldogs. I think JA did a spectacular enough job explaining why... I couldnt do it any better justice... JUST WHINE BABY!

DONEVAN:

Hounds vs OPC:
Hounds will take this easy.. like JA said, they are on fire right now.... poor OPC... having a lot of hard matchups lately... dont feel defeated.. you guys are doing great in the C division.....

Longhorns vs OPC:
JA seems to think the Longhorns will take this.. I am giving it to OPC though... it will be a close match, because of it being their 2nd game of the day... but these guys are portuguese..... you dont see many non-portuguese guys out there building houses for 10 hours a day in 40 degree weather --- 2 football games back to back is a walk in the park to what portuguese are used to! (no.. im not basing this on someone in my history.. he was lazy.. but all his other portuguese friends werent!) OPC... with im gonna say a 2 score win. ... just cause JA said this would be an upset... and I think hes wrong.

Mustangs vs Longhorns:
Mustangs..... even if they show up with a depleted roster, and just the guys from last week's games... they will pull out an easy win... those vets have the energy and endurance of 14 year olds... im ridiculously jealous.

RE: Week 9 picks

I noticed KA on the sidelines at the Raider/Bulldog game and I giggled like a school girl as she seemed to sneak out with her tail between her legs at about half time when the Raiders were up 21-0. All the Raiders were saying something about "how lucky we are to be here today and be on a lucky team" LOL OMG it felt so good after the game as we drank are "Lucky" beer to celibrate another unofficial "Lucky" win. Thank god stats counted in this game. If not their would of been no proof of how "lucky" we were today.

Bulldogs this is not on you just KA and JA with thier awfull predictions and reasoning of how real teams (The Raiders) play and win. I can not wait to see how they justify the game today. Also I am waiting to see how much they predict the Hawks and the Longhorns to beat us by next week. I guess our will have to run out sooner or later.

I will actually cut KA a break on the Hawk game it is her man and you know you can not bet against the man who wears the pants in the family.

But JA no excuses for you!

Though JA I do have a question for you? Are you a player on a real team or sideline junkie like KA?

RE: Week 9 picks

It seems ridiculous for me to have to say this, let alone it be the second time, but should members of the exec really be trash talking the anon trolls? Like, really?

RE: Week 9 picks

blue 52.... like really.... i should then be subject to his insults? a former exec and a team rep? he is not an anon troll. hes the same guy i ripped into last time... and if he says stupid shit again.. maybe youll need to say it a third time...

regardless of whether or not someone is an 'executive' it doesn't mean i should just sit there and be disgraced... and if you think that one should, then i question your own self-worth.. because i think im worth more than some asshole talking shit to me... this is on a PERSONAL note.. and not me as the executive member.. i dont do anything different to his team just because HE is on it... the rest of his team are awesome, and I cant quite understand how they deal with him..

but if being within the executive, and making sure stuff runs without a hitch from week to week means that im not allowed to call a spade a spade... then take my name off that executive list... and let me call that spade a spade...

RE: Week 9 picks

I think with how much hard work and with all the results Kelly has produced in her time with the OTFL and the fact that she doesn't even play in the league so she is doing it all completely out of the goodness of her heart earns her enough respect amoungst members of the OTFL that if she wants to have an occassional rant every now and then, she has earned that right.

RE: Week 9 picks

Bucs may find the rest of the season challenging, from what news has been gathered, their captian ( Defense ) is injured, during a whitby league game from what I heared. Poor attendance, and there is a rumour that Daves's son and team rusher Steven is also out for the rest of the season. No real confirmation on this one yet, though he has missed now two games in a row.
