| Posted By: OTFL Executive Posted On: Sep 21st, 2011 Views: 1582 | Week 8 in Review Central - 9:00 a.m. Rogues 18 - All Blacks 8 The week kicked off by pitting two 'A' teams against one another. The All Blacks were able to hang with the Rogues, but in the end weren't able to breakdown the Rogues' defence. The Rogues got scores from three different players, Fred Ortencio (6); Jeff "Don't Call Me Brandon" Jacobs (6); and Paul Leckey (6) to help propel them to a crucial victory over the All Blacks, who got their lone score from Craig Wrice. The Rogues are fighting for that top seed while the All Blacks are looking to move out of the cellar in the competitive 'A' division. Central - 10:30 All Blacks 31 - Sun Devils - 6 The Sun Devils were looking to keep pace with the Rogues in this one, but unfortunately they only had 6 players show up for the game, which definitely hurt them in this one. The All Blacks, although coming off a tough loss just minutes before, came out firing on all cylinders and showed no mercy. The All Blacks used a balanced scoring attack getting scores from Desmond "Don't Call Me Ben" Johnson; Matt Chang; Richie Allen; and Robert "You know him as Buzz" Bezzant. Germaine Wallace got the lone score for the Sun Devils, who dropped to 7-1-2 after this game. The All Blacks stayed one game back of the Buckeyes for 4th in the tough 'A' division. Central - 12:00 Buckeyes 7 - Sun Devils 6 The Buckeyes were hoping that the Sun Devils, who picked up their seventh player for the start of this game, would be out of gas come game time. The Buckeyes were able to get that ever crucial convert from John Cavalari to secure the narrow one point victory. The Sun Devils played the Buckeyes close but were unable to convert after their touchdown. Surprisingly this gives the Sun Devils a modest 2 game losing streak...time to worry? Let's ask #84! This loss puts the Sun Devils in sole possession of 2nd place and the Buckeyes in sole possession of 3rd in the 'A' division. Henry - 9:00 Bulldogs 30 - Longhorns 6 The early game at Central saw the Bulldogs score a convincing victory over the Longhorns. Sorry Kelly, couldn't quite muster the 51 points you asked for but we'll chalk it up to rust having not played for 3 weeks lol. Lewmar "You're My Boy Lew" Henry and David "Don't Call Me Carlos" Delgado led the Bulldogs with 12 points each. The Longhorns got their lone score from from Geurys De Jesus Rodrigues (try saying that 10 times fast). This game saw a very impressive blind behind the back lateral that sprung David Delgado for one of his two scores...you had to be there to really appreciate. The Longhorns will be a team on the rise, they have great size and play the game hard. Well played boys! Henry - 10:30 Lancers 12 - Raiders - 33 Game 2 at Henry saw a 'B' division battle pitting the Lancers, who are in 1st place, against the Raiders who have been making some noise lately by winning their fourth in a row. The Lancers played this one with 6 to start, then they had a player show up, but then they had an injury, so when all was said and done they pretty much played the game with 6 players. The Raiders showed no mercy by putting up 33 points, with Neal Robinson contributing 14 to that. Alex Veira (finally got the spelling down) added 6 more points to his resume, giving him a very impressive 110 on the year. This game caused quite a log jam in the 'B' division as only two games separate first from fifth. Henry - 12:00 Buccanneers 19 - Hounds 40 The Hounds were looking to extend their winning streak and did so quite easily agains the Buccaneers. Esteban Correa scored 13 points and chipped in with 2 interceptions for the Hounds, who have now won four games in a row. The Buccaneers just couldn't keep up with the Hounds' high octane offence on this day even though they got 12 points from Justin "Don't Call Me Brandon" Marshall. This win allowed the Hounds to keep pace with the rest of the very competitive 'B' division, while dropping the Bucs' record to .500. Donevan - 9:00 Mustangs 27 - OPC 18 The early game at Donevan saw the Mustangs handle their business over the OPC. The Mustangs played ironman throughout the entire game fielding only 7 players for this one but nonetheless were able to secure the 27-18 victory. Damian Wong led the Mustangs with a whopping 18 points and chippedin with a sack to boot. OPC was led by Edy "Don't Call Me Cappuccino" Capucho's 12 points but in the end came up short on this day. The win puts the Mustangs in sole possession of 2nd place in the 'B' division with a record of 5-4 but have two very tough games to end the season against the Buckeyes and the Sun Devils which will most certainly determine if they're going to get a shot at the 'A' title! Donevan - 10:30 Mustangs 28 - Turtles 0 Once again the Mustangs played with only 7 and were on the backend of a double header, but the score wouldn't suggest that as they shut out the Turtles 28-0. The Mustangs used a balanced offence to secure the victory in this one getting scores from Javier Freixa (6); Ken Lee (6); Matt Wong (6); and Sean Peters (6). This pushed the Mustangs' record to 6-4 on the year, but will they be able to run the table to get a crack at the 'A' teams? Time will tell, time will tell. Donevan - 12:00 Hawks 32 - Turtles 13 The Turtles must feel like they're not getting any respect lately as the Hawks also fielded a bear minimum, actually only 6 players and an injured one to make it 7. Did it affect their abilities to get the victory? Looking at the score it would appear that they may not have even broken a sweat. The Hawks were led by phenom Kevin Risko's 18 points, and an interception. The Turtles, to their credit, did put up a better fight in this one but just could not overcome the Hawks' experience and talent. This victory gave the Hawks a 7-2-1 record and broguht them within one victory of securing top spot in the 'C' division. |

If we had 7 guys both games would have been much closer. Not it just means we play a lower tier team in the first round of playoffs. So who's worried about what? |
