Week 4 in Review

There were many exciting and important games this week in the OTFL.

CENTRAL

Buckeyes 15 ? All Blacks 12

This was a close match up between two ?A? teams that saw the Buckeyes come out on top. Mike Rafuse spread the ball around to a number of different receivers for the Buckeyes and also got the job done on defence recording the team?s only interception. With the loss the All Blacks fall to 1 ? 4 on the season.

Buckeyes 19 ? Rogues 25

The Buckeyes played tough against a strong Rogues squad on the back end of their double header. Andrew Bringpong led all scorers with 12 points for the Rogues. Jeff Jacobs and Ryan Ford had interceptions and Dave ?Mouse? Thomas had two sacks. Despite the loss the Buckeyes remain over .500 (4 ? 3) on the season.

Sun Devils 20 ? Rogues 0

What some were calling a championship preview proved to be a very one sided game. The Sun Devils had no problem with a tired and beaten up Rogues squad. Chris Heath put up 12 points and 2 sacks for the Sun Devils. The lone bright spot for the Rogues was Jeff Jacobs? 5 sacks. With the win the Sun Devils remain undefeated (4-0-1) and are clearly the team beat this season.

EASTDALE

Bulldogs 38 ? Raiders 6

The Bulldogs continued their winning ways as they have now won 4 games in the last 3 weeks of play. They have improved their record to 4 ? 2 which is good enough for first place in the ?B? division. Lewmar Henry and Travis Thomas both had 2 interceptions and 6 points for the Bulldogs. Geoff Keen had all of the Raiders points and two touchdowns for the Raiders. With the loss the Raiders fall to 1-4-1 on the season.

Mustangs 15 ? Hounds 12

The Mustangs squeaked past the Hounds in a tight one. JJ Edwards and Shane Williams had touchdowns for the Mustangs while Aaron Johnson and Brandon Clark put up scores for the Hounds. Ian Campbell had 3 sacks for the Mustangs. The tough loss puts the Hounds at 0 -5 and in last place in the very tough ?B? division.

Lancers 29 ? Mustangs 21

A possible ?B? championship preview saw the Lancers take care of business against a tough Mustangs team, handing the Mustangs their first ever OTFL loss. Alex Veira led the way for the Lancers scoring 3 touchdowns. With the win the Lancers improve to 2-1-1 on the season and our very much in the hunt for first place in the ?B? division.

DONEVAN

Hawks 20 ? Buccaneers 20

In a battle for top spot in the ?C? division nothing was settled in this one as the game end in a tie. I?m sure both teams (and all OTFL enthusiasts) will be looking forward to the rematch on September 25th. Geoff Johnson (14 pts) and Kevin Risko (12 pts) led the scoring for the Buccaneers and Hawks respectively. With the tie both teams remain tied for first in the ?C? division at 4 ? 1 ? 1. Geoff Johnson?s 14 points vaulted him into the top spot in the scoring race.

OPC 37 ? Longhorns 7

This was a big victory in this one for OPC who were hoping to finish the week in 3rd place in the ?C? division. Ryan Henriques and John Silva were the top scorers for OPC with 13 and 9 points respectively. Dave Casimiro had 3 sacks. For the Longhorns Craig Klassen and Kevin Henry had interceptions while Wes King had their lone touchdown.

Turtles 18 ? OPC 7

The Turtles are showing they are a team to be reckoned with in the ?C? division as they took sole possession of 3rd place with an important win over OPC. Bryan Pucknell, Chris Graham and Matt Healy each scored a touchdown for the Turtles. Dave Casimiro had another 3 sacks in this one giving him 6 on the day and a huge lead in the OTFL sack race. With the loss OPC falls to 2 ? 3 and into 4th place in the ?C? division.

In Co-ed action the Intercepticons were able to grab their first victory of the season with an impressive 25 ? 0 victory over Urine Trouble. In the late game Dawksports was able to pull even with ASU atop the standing by beating them 20-13.
