RE: Playoff predictions?

Well after last week's 6 and 3 performance my final tally for the regular season was 50-25-3. Twice as many wins as losses is never a bad thing.

O.k. so onto the Playoff picks.

All Blacks v. Lancers:

Well if you asked me about this pick a month ago I would have taken the Lancers to win easily but the All Blacks have been playing much better lately while the Lancers have been struggling. The All Blacks are still the team that came within a 4th quarter pick six of winning it all last year and now that we are in playoffs I think that has to have some weight on this pick. I think this is going to be a close game as both teams want to show they belong in the "A" and want to surprise people once they get there. In the end I'll take the All Blacks in a close one.

Buckeyes v. Raiders:

Again you ask me about this game a few weeks ago and I tell the Buckeyes win it no problem. But the Raiders even though they only won one game against a non "C" division team all season long have been playing some of the top teams very tight in the last few weeks. The Buckeyes suffered a devestating loss when TJ went down a few weeks ago but have still shown themselves to be competitive against good teams even without him. I think this too will be a close game with the Buckeyes pulling it out.

Killer Beezzz v. Bulldogs:

The Killer Beezzz looked good in last weeks win over the Lancers and I think they are starting to gel with having the whole season as well as tournaments under their belt. The Bulldogs just don't have the talent to play in with the "B" teams so when they lose this one to the Killer Beezzz it will be a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Hounds v. Bucaneers:

Hounds have had an up and down season this year but even on their worst day they should be able to beat the Buccaneers who like said above about the Bulldogs won't be able to compete in the "B" division playoffs anyway.

Well there you have it. Let's hear your thoughts.

RE: Playoff predictions?

Sorry for missing the last week of the regular season. Here are the lines for week 1 of the playoffs.

All Blacks vs Lancers +3
All Blacks have been playing some pretty good ball while the Lancers have had an absolutely terrible month of September. However, the playoff matchup between these two teams was pretty much set in August. I predict this will be a close and hard fought affair, give the edge to the All Blacks as experience may be the key factor.

Buckeyes vs Raiders +9
Buckeyes have not missed a beat even with out their #1 guy. That has been due largely to their A division leading defence. Raiders have had a strong 2nd half of the season but the Buckeyes should win by 2 scores thanks to that D and an ever-improving QB.

Killer Beezzz vs Bulldogs +7
What a great way to end the regular season for the Killer Beezzz by upsetting the Lancers. As great of a win that was, the Beezzz have got to me disappointed overall with the season. Fortunately, they enter the playoffs on a highnote. The Bulldogs on the other hand have a great young group, and with some more experience in this league they will be able to compete with the B teams sooner than most people think. Edge still belongs to the Beezzz, but it will be a relatively close one.

Hounds vs Buccaneers +9
The Hounds are sort of like the mini Buckeyes; below average offensively, but stellar on D. The Bucs counter by showing everyone they can move the ball and put up some points. However, I think the Hounds D will frustrate and confused the new and improved Bucs.

RE: Playoff predictions?

Anybody else realize that the Bulldogs have the best points against defence in the entire league?!?! Yeah they're in the C division but nevertheless, still impressive! On top of that they're also second in the league for interceptions for! Thoughts?!

RE: Playoff predictions?

It's easy to rack stats up and defend against teams without good QB's. Put Andrew Blair or Matt Chang in the C division and it would be ridiculous. The Bulldogs D wouldn't hold up if they played all the teams in the league. Because of the Divisions the stats are all askew this year.

RE: Playoff predictions?

hrmm.. i do agree the stats are jacked... BUT! nonetheless, kudos to everyone who is running high on the stats scene...

maybe this is something we can address in the off season - dividing stats according to division...

Im sure its technically possible (Drew can better verify that)...

It would be a little easier to quickly reference who the top ranked guys are of each division (instead of having to look through everyone one by one).

we love you guys so much that even though the season ends, we are still thinking of how to improve next year... already interviewing 10 year old boys to mow the lawn of donevan every Saturday evening.

.... to get on topic.... even though my pre-season prediction was Buckeyes.. theyve been slipping a bit toward the end... depressing.. how could you do this to me mike?

so i will have to trade my vote in and say Ruff Riders take it all in the end... for everything in between im just gonna say `good luck`to you all.. and bring on some good goddamn football! :)

RE: Playoff predictions?

In regards to the "A" division 1/4 final game. Assuming my AB and Buckeyes picks are correct I'll take the Buckeyes to beat the All Blacks at noon. I may be picking with my heart on this one. I do think it's going to be an excellent game though.
