Posted By: OTFL Executive Posted On: Aug 19th, 2010 Views: 2133 | All Star Selections Due to pressing deadlines regarding the all star game there will be no week 6 in Review but instead we are going to give you the All Star Selections for you to discuss. We are still looking for one more player on offence and one on defence to complete the roster of the Blue Team. Note that the Sun Devils and All Blacks (with the exception of Matt Chang) were not interested in participating and hence their absence from the selections. Here are the picks: GREY TEAM OFF Rick Pottle (QB) Jay Steinberg( QB) Craig Perry ( C ) Adam Balan Jeff Hernandez Mike Trail Brandon Pottle Rob Grey DEF Matt Chang ( R ) Mike Stoter ( R ) Arun Sriskandarajah Desmond Johnson Stu McNeil Steve Correa Drew Walker Jeff Jones BLUE TEAM OFF Mike Rafuse (QB) Lorin Brady (QB) Mark Philip ( C ) Shad Ross Travis Thomas Geoff Keen Rob Milne DEF Chris Pierre ( R ) Kevin Beardsworth ( R ) Ben Blanche Eric Dion Dennis Morris Greg Tierney James Huff We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the picks and if their is any glaring omissions please let us hear about it as we would like to fill the final two spots based on your opinions. Posted By: geoffj23 Posted On: Aug 19th, 2010 Views: 2094 | RE: All Star Selections Hmmm. I'm not sure of the metrics you used to select your QB for the Blue team, but you may want to revisit them. Unless Dave has indicatedd he can't, or does not want to play, he really should be the pick. According to your stats page he has thrown 25 TD's and 11 INT's and has a 5-1 record (Assuming all points are TD's). Also, we're missing the score from one of our games, a game I know we scored at least 3 times in. Rafuse on the other hand has 19 TD's and 6 INT's, a better ratio, but with worse results only going 4-2 over the same period vs. the same teams. So, it is close but you really should give the nod to the better record. Seems kind of weird not have the QB from the leage leading team there. Just my two cents. |

Nothing against the other squad but I think it will be a 4-2 score. Also look forward to all the players competing in the Skills competition, Good Luck to all. G over B |
Posted By: Scott Posted On: Aug 20th, 2010 Views: 2024 | RE: All Star Selections Hey Geoff, In response to your message the reason is because we needed to have the QB's, Rushers and Centre's picked after week 4 and at that time the Buckeyes were undefeated. I agree with you that Dave is having a great season and had the picks been made a little later things may have been different. Thanks, Scott |

Posted By: players rights Posted On: Aug 21st, 2010 Views: 1976 | RE: All Star Selections I am aware this is the first year of this allstar thing, but perhaps you could allow each player individually to choose whether to participate. It also would have been interesting to see who the choices were before players opted out of the game. This perhaps may have given credit where it was due. I do give credit though to the exec for exploring different ideas to make the OTFL more fun and successful. Keep it up, and lets keep the ideas flowing. |
Posted By: Kelly Posted On: Aug 21st, 2010 Views: 1953 | RE: All Star Selections Player's Rights - The Executive decided only on the limited positions being QB, Rushers, Centers.. These were based on stats up through week 4 (as scott indicated earlier). The team reps were all given a sign-up sheet before the 3 week break which had blanks for their pick of O & D. However the team rep decided to pick their representing players was up to them (they could take sole responsibility, let the team nominate, pull names, whatever). They know their players better than the stats may indicate... There was also, on that sheet, an area for sign ups for the skill competitions with the maximum of 2 participants per team for each skill. Fastest Player in OTFL (40 yard dash) Strongest Arm (longest pass) Most Accurate Arm (throwing accuracy) Longest Kick Longest Punt Most Agile (obstacle course) Additionally, a copy of this form was later forwarded to them by email as a reminder during the break, in case the original form was misplaced. In it, we had asked for all details to be received no later than August 15 so that we would be able to organize the teams, skills, etc. It was as fair as it could be so the players rights were definitely taken into consideration from the view point of the Executives.. if you feel that your team unfairly picked their representing players, then that is beyond our control. _______________________________________________ John C - Sun Devils & All Black representatives had both said their players (aside from Matt Chang)would not be participating... the role of the team rep is to be the correspondence from the exec to their players. We trust that the team reps do have the best interest of their players. |
