Week 9 picks

Well despite my best intentions I have missed the last two weeks straight. I blame the long the weekend for throwing me out of my rhythm. Maybe next year I'll just make playoff prediction picks on the long weekend or something to keep me on point. Anyways, just because I missed the last two weeks there's no reason to just give up for the rest of the year. Here are my week 9 picks. A few tough games this week but I'm confident my picking skills haven't gone rusty during my hiatus.

Henry St North
Rogues v ASU: These two meet up for the 3rd time this year and the 2nd time in as many weeks. ASU was able to play the Rogues a lot closer last game than in their first meeting but that was against a tired Rogues team on the backend of a very difficult double header. This week is a different story. Give me the Rogues in a game that will likely have more Star Power than the All Star game at noon.

Mustangs v. OPC: Another A division meeting on the Henry North field (if you are still willing to consider OPC an A team). With OPC's only win this year coming against the Raiders and the fact they got smoked by the Mustangs in their first meeting I don't see anyway they pull out the win here. Give me the Stangs easily.

Henry St. South
Sharks v. Manimals: Despite both teams losing to the Rivals last week (the Sharks by one point and the manimals by one score) Both of these teams have been playing much better in recent weeks. The Sharks are the more talented team and should win this one easily but the Manimals are definitely becoming a more formidable opponent week in and week out. Give me the Sharks.

Hawks v. Raiders: The way things are starting to take shape this looks like a B division play in game preview. So far the Hawks are a respectable 2 - 1 against B division teams, losing only to the top team the Rivals while the Raiders are 1 - 0 - 1 against C teams. The Hawks aren't your ordinary C team though and I definitely like their chances against the Raiders in this one. Give me the Hawks

Annes St.

Thundercats v. Atlas
After the Thundercats lost to the Manimals a few weeks back this is looking like Atlas' best chance at breaking into the Win column and I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the upset but I have to stick to my golden rule of not picking winless teams and not picking against unbeaten teams, so I will very relucntantly pick the Cats in this one.

Untouchables v. Rivals
The game of the week that nobody will get to see. The Rivals were looking like the runaway team in the B division but two close wins against what appeared to be inferior opponents has me starting to wonder about them. The Untouchables on the other hand have won 3 of their last 4 with their only loss against a very tough Mustangs team (albeit two of the 3 wins were against C division teams). I'm looking for the Rivals to re-establish their dominance in this game and reclaim their spot as the best team in the B division.

Last but not least, the All Star Game.

Looking at the rosters posted on the board I think it's going to be a very close game. I see Navy having a slight edge at QB and on Offense while Orange's Defence on paper looks very solid. It could be a bit of immovable object against unstoppable force when Navy has the ball. When Orange has the ball I think their offence should be able to but up some points against Navy's defence. It should be a great game. Give me Orange in a close one.

There you have it. As always I'd love to hear your thoughts.

JA
