Week 2 report

Hello Otfl,

It was quite the week at Eastdale. Four action packed games were played resulting in some fun and exciting football.

OPC vs Rogues

This games was a tale of two halves. The Rogues came out flying on all cylinders both offensively and defensively. OPC on the other hand did not. After four unanswered touchdowns the Rogues found themselves up 26-0 at half. OPC switched things up at the QB position in the second half by taking out Ricardo Duarte and bringing in Joao silva and it seemed to be the right move. Three unanswered scores, Joao to Jesse Dueck with two INT's in between, Joao and Jesse again, all of a sudden made it a 1 score/8 point game with 4ish minutes left. OPC needed one more defensive stand to have a chance at the tie but a deep bomb for a touchdown killed the comeback.

OPC vs Rivals

The B finals rematch was shortly underway when OPC's Joao Silva managed to hit Ryan Henriques with a beauty over the shoulder pass in the end zone. Things quickly turned sour for OPC. The Rivals were able to shut the OPC offence out the remainder of the game, with lots of thanks to Jamal brown rushing and Matt Johnson's INT's. Back that up with Stu's on point passing and Marlon Wong's hands and there you have the recipe that gave the Rivals the win.

Rivals

ASU vs Rivals

Rivals were looking to go 2 and 0 on the day against yet another A team. ASU on the other hand had something else in mind. Dave Packman Spackman ate up the Rivals, no pun intended, and was able to lead his team to victory. Once again Super Dave Zmozynski led the way with a solid two score game as the Greek God Giorgio Mikos played his part with 8 points and 1 INT. If these two can stay consistent everyone better watch out! The Rival gave it a go but things just didn't go their way. Jamal Brown had yet another sack to give him 8 on the year. That's crazy considering we are only in week 2. Des Johnson, great football name, and Josh Devine, great porn name, scored 2 and 6 with Des also getting a pick. Congrats to Buzz jr. and Heinz Stork for being good ol' boys out there.

ASU 20 Rivals 8

ASU vs Untouchables

ASU pulled off another victory to give them 2 on the day. Packman Spackman was at it again throwing for 3 scores and a couple of converts. Super Dave was up to his old tricks with another dozen points. Frank Katradis helping the cause with 6 of his own. Heinz Stork with defensive honours. The Untouchables didn't lay down though. They played hard and had Dane Clarke and Gary Humber do the scoring with 6 points each. Ryan Phillips was a key factor to the offence as well winning O player of the game. Double J Jermaine James showed his skills with a pick. That just wasn't enough to get the doubleU.

ASU 20 Untouchables 14

Good games all around. See you all next week.

RE: Week 2 report

Week 2 at Maxwell in the OTFL saw three results that weren’t fathomable a year ago. These three games pitted the Thundercats against a new Atlas team, the new look Hawks squad against the Sharks, and the Manimals against the Raiders.

The first game of the day was an interdivisional matchup between the Hawks and the Sharks. Last year the Hawks were in the C division while the Sharks played in the A division. This year the Hawks remain in the C division while the Sharks compete in the B division. After Week 1 it was evident that the Hawks improved drastically with the acquisition of quarterback Steve Gagnon and receiver Travis Thomas. An ankle injury in the first game forced Travis out of action in this one. However, in the end an injury did not slow down the Hawks as they held an explosive Sharks offense to a mere 6 points, while dropping 18 of their own.

The second game of the day saw the Thundercats against a promising new squad in the OTFL, Atlas. After getting pounded in Week 1, the Thundercats came out hissing. On the opening drive the Thundercat’s Bryce Crawford unleashed a bomb down field for a score. The Thundercats were in complete control until the second half when Atlas’ quarterback, Michael Nicolaou connected with Andrew Kennedy for a long touchdown. Andrew Kennedy had himself a day, as he also recorded a couple of interceptions to go along with his touchdown. In the end, the Thundercats running game was too much for Atlas as they took this one 30 to 6.

The final, and perhaps the most surprising game of the day was between the Manimals and the Raiders. A year ago the Raiders ran through the C division, but the underdog Manimals had something to say about that narrative for this season. Toward the end of the game the Manimals were in the Raider’s territory with a chance to tie or take the lead as the score was 12 to 6 for the Raiders. Unfortunately, the Manimals then threw an interception caught by Rich Lafoy. Then the unthinkable happened! On an attempted pitch off of the interception, the Manimals picked it off. This set the Manimals up for another chance and this time they would not be denied. The final score was a 12-12 deadlock!
