Week 5 picks

I'm back!!!

My apologies for my (essentially) two week hiatus. Got distracted last weekend by the Kingston tournament but I'm back now with a detailed report on this week's games.

Maxwell Heights:

Hawks v. Manimals: KA says the Hawks are running short on numbers this week and she would be a fairly reliable source on this. Even with that being the case as long as they have some combination of 7 guys I have to pick them. Not necessarily because they are any good but more because the Manimals need to win a game before I'm willing to pick them against any team. Give me the Hawks.

Rivals v. Untouchables: The Rivals finally showed a little life two weeks ago putting up 13 points against OPC after being shutout their first two games. Speaking of those first two gams though, the first one was against the Untouchables and they lost by a convincing 26 points. I just don't see that significant of an improved by Rivals in a month. Give me the Untouchables to win in a much close game this time around.

Buckeyes v. Sharks: The poor Sharks. After such an incredible season last year it looks like it's gonna be a long season this year. Losing their best player right before the season (to the couch no less) definitely doesn't help matter but they did have a solid roster out last week and still couldn't beat OPC. OPC is a really good team this year but that was probably the Sharks first of 3 chances for a win this year. Give me the Buckeyes in a route.

EASTDALE:

Rogues v. OPC: Sure I just said OPC is a really good team this year. By that I meant they have a chance to be the best of rest. It's pretty clear that there are 3 elite teams in this league and then there's everyone else. I don't see myself picking against those top 3 teams (unless they are playing each other) for the rest of the season. So give me the Rogues to win this one easily.

Rogues v. Bulldogs: Easily this week's game of the week. The Bulldogs have looked really good through their first 4 games (obviously so have the Rogues but that was to be expected). The first time these two teams played it ended in a tie and the Rogues were lucky to get that. I'm really tempted to go with the Bulldogs here but I said I'm not going to pick against the Rogues until they lose and I'm going to stick to that. Give me the Rogues in a close one.

Thundercats v. Raiders: Another great matchup as the Thundercats look to avenge their only loss of the season while the Raiders look to remain undefeated. Do I think the Raiders are vastly improved from last year? Definitely. Do I think they are as good as their record indicates? Not quite. I think it could very well be these two teams in the "C" championship this year. I don't think either of them is quite good enough to move up into the "B" but both are better than the other two "B" teams. Okay I've stalled long enough with pointless rambling (which means I really have no idea who to pick). Give me the Thundercats in a really close game.

Well there you have it. The triumphant return of my weekly picks. Let me hear your thoughts.

RE: Week 5 picks

welcome back JA! although, your absence did force some new prognosticators... hope they don't return to being wallflowers now that you have returned.

careful with your Thundercats pick... I've seen Phil Kessel around this message board.. I think hes a bit sensitive in light of a recent event.. or one too many concussions? either way.. hes a raiders fan me thinks... and one who obviously doesn't know how awesome #88 is... I mean.. come on... even Iggy Azalea thinks hes Fancy....
