Apologies for my absenteeism last season but i'm back this year and don't worry there isn't a spec of rust on me. Looks like it's going to be a great season. The first week is always the toughest but I'm still confident I can go at least 5 out of 6 in week 1. So with that said let's get to the picks. Hawks v. OPC: Starting to become a bit of a rivalry between these two teams. The Hawks and their new QB looked solid at the kickoff tournament. OPC had a lot of trouble putting points on the board. I'll take the Hawks in a close one. OTFL Bulldogs v. Sharks: OTFL Bulldogs are the mystery team for 2014. I don't think anyone knows what to expect from this team (myself included). I do know the Sharks got one of their best players back for this season and they have a great defence. Now they just need to be able to put up some points. They're not going to win many more 1-0 games (a la the preseason tourney against the buckeyes). I'll uneasily take the Sharks only because the Bulldogs need to prove it to me first. Cowboys v. Manimals: Two teams here hoping to improve on tough seasons last year. I haven't heard too much in terms of offseason moves from either team so I'm going to assume they are pretty much the same teams as last year. And since in the "C" semi final last year the Cowboys were able to defeat the Manimals with only 5 players I have to think they can do it no problem with 7. Give me the Cowboys. Raiders v. Buckeyes: The Raiders did not appear to be the same team that won the "B" title last year during the preseason tourney and I don't expect them to really compete with the top (or even middle) teams this season. Buckeyes have been playing together a lot (in tfont tournaments and the preseason tourney) and should easily get the win over the Raiders. Buckeyes v. Untouchables: "With the untouchable's pick ups they really should have 'B' secured!" - The One. Going to assume this quote was from a member of the Untouchables. And maybe it's true, maybe it's not but regardless the Buckeyes are clearly not a "B" team so even the Untouchables themselves don't think they can win this one. Neither do I. Give me the Buckeyes. Rogues v. Brew Crew: Not much of a game here as last years champs play one of the two worst teams from last year. I am expecting a huge improvement from the Brew Crew this season but it won't seem that way in this one. Hopefully the Rogues take it easy on them and don't shatter their confidence. Well there are the week 1 picks. As always i welcome the feedback. Here's to a great 2014 sesaon. It's good to be back. JA |

Hawks v. OPC: I wasn't able to get out to the pre-season tournament this year... woowoo! but obviously got to hear every gruelling play by play of the day from the hawks perspective.. as much as I am torn between cheering for the formerly known as Hounds, or OPC.... im gonna say the hawks take this win... don't worry OPC, yer still a contender for me cheering you on... OTFL Bulldogs v. formerly known as Hounds: pretty much bang on here with this write up JA... so I cant really argue with anything.. no idea what the OTFL team will look like, but im damn curious to see how they fair. and... ugh.. the FKAH's.. well.. its like a bad breakup, ya know? you love them for so many years... then.. they go and change their address, name, identity, and make things all awkward between you ... but yet.. you still want to love them... restraining order be damned.. I mean.. ummm... not that I have any experience with any of this................................... because they can't get rid of me that easily, I will take the formerly known as Hounds for a slight win... although, if they face the OTFL Bulldogs team again in the future, im not too sure it will be the same vote --- once they get their shit together they should be a force to reckon with. GOOOOOO formerly known as hounds also known as sharks! (how the hell do I fit that on a Bristol board?) Cowboys v. Manimals: A good pairing... again, its as if JA is in my head or something... im gonna take the Cowboys for the win on this too - but it will be close.. these guys are like the twin teams.. great paired against one another.. Raiders v. Buckeyes: Again - I didn't see the preseason games.. BUT.. this is typical raiders... show up, play, win some.. lose some.. then.. some magical football fairy sprinkles some football dust on them as they sleep before playoff games, and then -- presto -- them guys come out for the win, and nothing shy of it... But yes, because the buckeyes have had an early start on the year... I will take the buckeyes in this first game of the OTFL year... Buckeyes v. Untouchables: "With the untouchable's pick ups they really should have 'B' secured!" - The One; - JA. Well. that write has huge [foot]balls. quite the statement.. I like it! :) in fact.. so much so that, along with the fact buckeyes are on the 2nd of a double header, will make me pick the untouchables. My gut tells me no way in hell would I put money on this... so thankfully im not... but I think this may be this weeks underdog upset... ill have my fingers crossed for extra magic. Rogues v. Brew Crew: We have a team called the Rogues? I thought it was Rouges? ;) Brew Crew --- the only advice I can give you is to wear diapers.. and bring a pen... cause you are going to shit yourselves... and should take notes. (hey, its lessons from the best.. we aren't even gonna raise your league fees for that bonus... no, no... don't thank me!) Rogues.. in an obviously easy win.....but I don't think they will be dicks by running up the score for show... ... I think my "...'s" have had babies in the offseason... im such a lazy typist.. sorry folks! |
