Week 3 picks

A tough week for JA last week finishing an unprecedented 3rd in the prognosticator standings for the week. Looks like a perfect week is in store for this week. And for those of you looking for help with the weekly pick contest I'll even highlight my top four selections to give you the inside track (free of charge).

Alright onto the picks.

Maxwell

9:00 am Steelers v. Bull Dogs

Both teams looked great last week and with the Lancers questionable attendance at the QB position I might have to take away their dark horse designation and hand it over to the Steelers. With that said am I ready to pick against my favourite team and take the Steelers in this one. Not quite yet. I see this game being extremely close and it could definitely go either way. With it being so even I have to stick with my favourite team. Give me the Bull Dogs (just barely)

10:30 am Buckeyes v. Bull Dogs

Will the Bull Dogs get enough guys out to stay fresh for their second game? You would think so with them having two teams in one. To me that is what this game will come down to. If the Bull Dogs can get 13 or more guys out this weekend they win this game. If they get less than 10 they lose this one. If it's in between it could go either way. Again not a slam dunk by any means but give me the Bull Dogs to come away with 2 victories despite having a total margin of victory in the single digits for the day.

12:00 Buckeyes v. Lancers

I have to shy away from the Lancers in this one for the sole reason that I don't know who will be there at QB. For that reason give me the tired Buckeyes to win this one.

Eastdale

9:00 All Blacks v. Rogues

You just never know with either of these two teams. The All Blacks with performance and the Rogues with attendance. Some games the All Blacks look like legitimate championship contenders and then other weeks they look like they might be heading to the basement of the "A" division. Banking on this week being an off week for the All Blacks. Give me the Rogues as my first highlighted pick.

10:30 Raiders v. Rogues

Raiders didn't look too good last week losing to a Lancers team without their starting QB. Even if the Rogues get half their regulars out to this one they should have no trouble beating the Raiders. I like the Rogues again in this one as my second highlighted pick.

Noon: Steelers v. Raiders

The rivalry match-up we have all been waiting for. might be interesting to see the opening coin toss in this one. As for the actual Game I don't see it being nearly as interesting. Give me the Steelers to win big over the Raiders as my 3rd highlighted pick.

Central

9:00 am Hounds v. OTFL

Really hope the OTFL team starts to gel because from seeing a little bit of their games they have a lot of talent and could surprise a couple B teams later in the season. Alas they aren't there yet and the Hounds are going to come out strong after their loss last week. Give me the Hounds as my 4th highlighted pick.

10:30 am Hawks v. Cowboys

Hawks looked more impressive than I gave them credit for last week. I look for them to win fairly easily over the Cowboys even though the Cowboys have also impressed me so far this year.

Noon OPC v. Untouchables

Ready for my upset pick of the week. I'm sure I'll be taking some flack about it from OPC (especially if they end up winning) but I'm going to go with the Untouchables to shock OPC. Interested to see what Captain Cock's message board post will be titled if they lose against the Untouchables on Sunday. Might have a word that rhymes with "shrimp" in it.

Well there you have it. Let's hope for a better week this week after I used last week to gauge where the teams were at this year.

let's hear your thoughts.

JA

RE: Week 3 picks

Looking forward to upseting u'r upset pick of the week my friend. The mighty Cocks are feeling strong after 2 solid victories and the feeling is that it will carry on to week 3. So don't be expecting any shrimps on sunday cause we'll be plaing like pimps come game time.

Look forward to the challenge Untbles.

RE: Week 3 picks

have to keep it short and sweet.. i had types up a long one before, and my computer rebooted so i lost it... .. damn you technology..

im gonna steal JA's scheduling format to save from flipping back and forth... thanks JA

Maxwell

9:00 am Steelers v. Bull Dogs

i dont know enough of the steelers squad to give it a good guess... but i do know a lot of the bull dogs squad.. so for this alone, i will say bull dogs... until i get to actually see the steelers to gauge just how good they are... (not just from what scott tells me).

10:30 am Buckeyes v. Bull Dogs

i agree with JA here... the bull dogs should be able to take this, assuming they can handle the back to backs.

12:00 Buckeyes v. Lancers

I may know a lil something about this game... give me the buckeyes 6-0 over the lancers. solid lock down.

Eastdale

9:00 All Blacks v. Rogues

while i think this will be the all blacks year to shine, i dont think it will be this early (and still dont really see them in the A finals... i will lock them in as my 3rd place A team year end... well.. depending on how the steelers end up looking). so with this being said... rogues if they get their guys showing up.

10:30 Raiders v. Rogues

i still have no real idea who is on the raiders roster... so, like with the steelers, i would need to see them in action to accurately judge them.. BUT... they would need the likes of god himself on the roster in order to compete against the rogues and win... even with the rogues the ass end of a double header... so rogues to win.

Noon: Steelers v. Raiders

would love to see this match up... so much drama... steelers will take this easily... proving that the motto 'just win baby' doesnt have to stick with the raiders jerseys... ... .. it can stick to the true raiders at heart...

Central

9:00 am Hounds v. OTFL

I think the otfl need to get together to practice outside of the game... like JA said.. there is definitely talent... but using game time to build camaraderie wont bode well with the year end standings. i definitely see them being great contenders against the cowboys, untouchables, and even OPC once they mesh...... but i think the Hounds are upper B, so this being said, they will take this for a much needed turn around to the Hounds start of the season.... gooooo hounds! xox

10:30 am Hawks v. Cowboys

maybe the reverse psychology aided in the hawks triumph over the hounds last week? maybe it was just scott trying to eff with my prognosticator standings so he made sure to put a little extra umph to his try (try-umph... get it?!?? [HINT: im going for the word play on 'triumph' there]). Do i chance my stats to do the reverse psychology on scott again? nah... hawks will take down the cowboys in a very one-sided showdown.

Noon OPC v. Untouchables

i still think the untouchables are figuring things out.. i give them this last week to do so... OPC will take this -- sorry JA... but i have a feeling the next time the untouchables go eye-to-eye against the cocks (ewwwwwww) it will be the untouchables' turn to win.
