week1 Playoff Picks

I am writing my picks, under the assumption that the whole matters of forfeit will be a thing of the past.. and that guys will show up hungry to play & dominate... with this being said, here we go:

Donevan:
Buccaneers vs Raiders

Sure, the bucs are in 2nd place in the C division. ... .. but I do believe there is a large gap that separates them from the 1st place team in their division... and even more a gap from the B division (well... maybe not? since the 1st place team of the C division took out both the 4th & 5th teams in B last week). Either way, the Raiders should be able to take this one, with the Bucs likely being very content with staying the remainder of their time battling it out for a more attainable C title.

Hawks vs Hounds

Deja vu? Yup! Will the weather hopefully be less wet and chilly? who knows.... im not making any promises... I see these teams as being pretty evenly matched - it could be anyones game, really... Hounds may step up their game a notch with the fear of being 'demoted' to C, and having the extra fight in them from the Hawks having put an end to their winning streak last week. I know the Hawks will show up to play to win, even if it means them flipping into a more competitive tier.... So .... who will be the victors? I am going to say the Hounds -- only because they have more to lose, and therefore more motivation.

Game 3:

too many variables.. so lets leave it to luck.. :) my fave word.

Eastdale:

Turtles vs Longhorns
Turtles..... turtles turtles turtles.. you guys scare me.. you are like my soon-to-be-4 year old daughter... sooo unpredictable. Earlier, i wouldve given you guys this vote of confidence without hesitation... but if i check the record books, you guys gave the longhorns their only win of the season...... Longhorns... sure, youve had a rough inaugeral season... but now its a new leaf.. its your chance for redemption... ...my gut is telling me to go with the turtles for their youthful vigor.... over the experience of the veteran longhorns.. but im still not convinced with my mind... and wouldnt be surprised if this went the other way... alas... Turtles - final answer.

Lancers vs Buckeyes
ohhhh.. well this will be a fun one to watch from the sidelines... I like the Lancers.. I liked them last year... but it was only a small crush.. and then this year, it may have developed into a love... no idea why? but do any of us know why we love those we do? with this being said... I have the feeling they have something to prove to the B division... so even though the Lancers COULD take this one.. dot - dot - dot. Buckeyes, in theory have an amazing squad (my early fave last year... but this year... just have been rocked by injuries). Buckeyes need this win.... and again, assuming their injuries are mended, and attendance matters addressed, they SHOULD win this... so I will take the Buckeyes.

Mustangs vs All Blacks
The All Blacks have been on fire lately... and the Mustangs got shafted and have been on the sidelines for an extra week longer than the rest of the teams... or is that to their advantage, giving them an additional week to rest up and go over the plays? I will take the All Blacks in this matchup... because of the reason that they have finally found their groove, and I know the mustangs have lost a few of their key players to school (though, im NOT sure if those players will come back for playoffs.. if they do, then that would make the game a lot more interesting! and probably change the results.. but alas.. without knowing if they will be there.. i hold firm with the all blacks).

SO!!! good LUCK guys... even if luck has no place in football..

Bulldogs, OPC, Rogues, Sundevils --- you guys going to watch any of the games?

RE: week1 Playoff Picks

When the Longhorns beat us in Week 16, our lineup was extremely depleted and they squeaked out a 12-6 win. We've got most of our regulars back and we're ready to rock so take this as a guarantee: WE WILL BEAT THE LONGHORNS ON SUNDAY.

Turtles -- loving it!!! :) i expect a play-by-play in writing since i wont be there to experience this first hand...

longhorns.. any retort?

remember this: its all or nothing.. the winners plays on, the losers are putting their cleats away for the season with heads hanging low...

RE: week1 Playoff Picks

Well first I will add my name here as I am not speaking on behalf of my team. However I will let The Rex Ryans talk a good game and I will take the high road - Unless there is a rule change, just offering a guarantee doesn't count -- I still think you have to play the game to win. But if we do lose I promise we wont post any excuses.

RE: week1 Playoff Picks

spoken like a true gentlemen... i wouldnt expect anything less of you since you are such a sweetheart, chris..

i have no doubt in my mind that this game will be one well fought, with both teams laving everything on the field..

so regardless of who wins, it will be well earned.

an upset would be a dramatic turn-around for the longhorns... so im okay with my pick being wrong if it means a ton of excitement :)

so with that.. i keep my pick the same.. but expect huge excitement

wishing both teams success..... even though that's totally impossible.

note to self: learn to type 'leaving' instead of 'laving' as seen above.

RE: week1 Playoff Picks

soooo... of the games i picked (all but game 3 because of the teams being based on the previous games), i only got the hawks/hounds game wrong.. [this gives me another win against JA though, so still a victorious weekend]

it was close...

the hawks took out the hounds... but with only 8 guys, they just didnt have enough energy to follow it up with another win during game 3 of the day against the raiders...

so with that.. the hawks and longhorns are finished for the season...

.... and then there were 12.
