Wild Wing Oshawa Week 4 Review

At Eastdale the day started with an upset victory from the up and coming Bulldogs over the Killer Beezzz. Although the final score was 20 ? 6 this game could have went either way. Interception returns for touchdowns by both David Delgado and Andrew Collymore made the difference in this one. Desmond Johnson scored the sole touchdown for the Beezzz in the loss. Collymore also scored on offence and secured Player of Game honours.

With better numbers this week the women's division had 2 games. Navy led by Katie Spoorenberg took on Red led by Tanya ?Flutie? Bezzant. In this battle Katie had a hard time connecting with her receivers. She was intercepted off early by Flutie who returned it for a TD. Roxanne Prevost from Red also had an interception. Navy was not able to get past Red's defense. Flutie moved the ball around and connected with Roxanne for a TD.
In the other battle White led by Stephanie Kentner took on Pink led by Sherry Solomon. This was a battle of rookie QB's and Pink came out on top with three interceptions from Carole Trimm. This was her first game and she proved that she will be a tough defender. Sherry moved the ball extremely well as she learned how to read the defense. The white team had some players away this week which might have been the difference in this one.
The women are really picking up the game!
We of course are always looking for more women to join the league. If you know anyone that is interested in playing please send them our way. It's never too late!

The late game at Eastdale saw the Buccaneers beat the Hawks 20 ? 12. Taylor Iannarilli added to his league leading sack total by putting up 2 more sacks while Mack Iannarilli led all scorers with 8 points. The Buccaneers took a 14 ? 0 lead into half time but the Hawks battled back to make it 14 ? 12 with 6 plays remaining. The Hawks were unable to come up with the quick stop they needed as the Buccaneers put it away by scoring with 3 plays left.

At Central the Raiders took on Westney FC who were looking for their second win of the season. The Raiders called on old reliable Al Puntus to QB in his 26th season as a Raider. Puntus spread the ball to all his receivers and scored 4 touchdowns. When asked at the end of the game how he felt after all these years he said, "it is just good to be alive". Westney FC played strong defence and had good speed against the Raiders offence. However WFC's offense could not find it's rhythm but showed good hustle and determination. In the third quarter WFC caught the Raiders sleeping and put a deep ball over the head of Dennis Morris for a 60 yard gain. An unpleased Morris said "I should have never underestimated that guys speed". Final score Raiders 26-WFC 0.

The Buckeyes remained undefeated after beating the Hounds 28 ? 14 in the final game at Central. Chris Pierre led the way in this one as he put up 18 pts and 2 sacks. Justin Bird scored 12 points in a losing effort for the Hounds who drop to 1 ? 3 on the season. The Buckeyes will have a tough match up next week against the Rogues as they attempt to stay undefeated.

There will be lots of great games on tap for this Sunday including 8 men?s games and 2 women?s games.
