Wild Wing Oshawa OTFL Week 3 in Review

To start things off at Eastdale the Raiders took on the Buccaneers who were looking for the upset victory to go above .500 on the season, but Raiders QB Lorin Brady connected with Steven Robinson AKA ?Oucho Cinco? for 19 points and the Raiders won 27 ? 6. Aaron Snell put up the lone touchdown for the Buccaneers who fall to 1 ? 2 on the season.

The Women's division officially started their season this past weekend. Unfortunately not all teams had enough players for 2 games to be played but with the 4 teams combining into 2 it made for a very exciting start to the league. The white/red team had a new QB Stephanie Kettner, who was able to lead her offense on a long drive to score the first ever OTFL women?s touchdown! The navy/pink team didn't hold back. Veteran QB Katie Spoorenberg struggled on her first drive with new receivers but on the next drive she beat the rusher and ran in a touchdown. Both teams moved the ball very well and both defenses came up big when they needed to. Great job by all the women. Final score was Navy 13 White 7. Don't miss this week?s action as the women prove that they can play ball!

The final game at Eastdale matched the red hot Lancers against the Hawks. The hawks were able to score first in this one after a long touchdown reception by Andy Miller. After the Hawks? defense stopped the Lancers, the Hawks were looking to go up 2 touchdowns when an interception return for a touchdown by Arun Sriskandarajah evened the score at 6. A long touchdown run by Lancers QB Jay Steinberg put the Lancers ahead to stay as they took this one by a score of 25 ? 6. The win improved the Lancers record to 3 -1 good enough for first place in the ?B? division.

Over at Donevan the Sun Devils led by Dave Spackman and John Cavelery (12 pts) beat the Killer Beezzz 26 ? 7. The win improves the Sun Devils record to 2-0-1 leaving them only ? a game back of the Buckeyes for first place in the ?A? divison.

The second game at Donevan saw the Rogues taken on a depleted Hounds team. The Hounds kept it close in this one but in the end took the loss 28 ? 14. Brandon Pottle scored an incredible 20 points to lead all scorers this week while Stu McNeil had an impressive day defensively grabbing 3 interceptions.

At Central it was a defensive masterpiece as Westney FC beat the Bulldogs 7 ? 6. Mike Trail had the lone td for Westney FC and Travis Thomas had 3 interceptions for the Bulldogs. Both teams are now 1 ? 2 creating at log jam in the ?C? division as all four teams are sitting at 1 ? 2.

Next at Central the All Blacks played the first game of their double against the Ruff Riders. The Ruff Riders, who got two touchdowns each from Shad Ross and Doug Mayberry, beat the All Blacks 28 ? 14. The win improved the Ruff Riders record to 2 ? 1.

Things didn?t get any better for the All Blacks in the second game of the double header as they lost 20 ? 6 to the Buckeyes. Chris Pierre put up 8 points while Rob Milne and Rob Wilson added touchdowns for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes are the only team to win every game this season and their 3 ? 0 record puts them first in the ?A? division.

Only four games on tap this week. Good luck to any OTFL players heading to Ottawa this weekend.
