Unionville

Durham area teams represented well in Unionville this past weekend.

Playing on the X-Men with Raffy and TO (Buckeyes), we managed to beat three very good teams on Sunday to win the 'BB' Finals.

I watched the first two games that the Killer Beeezz played (with members of the All Blacks and long-time Oshawa leaguer 'Buzz') and they played very well, knocking off a very athletic Burlington Hardknocks team in the process. Don't know how and where they finished, but it was good to see them winning games. Buzz threw the ball fantastic from what I saw.

Didn't get to see the Rogues until after the BB Championship, but apparently they smoked whoever they played in their Finals. They looked like they were moving the ball with ease.

I only saw the first quarter or so of the 'AA' Finals, and Pottle looked like he was open just about every play (they did defend him once ... they must have just guessed!) and the Spartans got off to a great start.

Congrats to all the Durham area players, keep representing well for the rest of the year and maybe we can draw even more teams to the OTFL for next year!

T.

RE: Unionville

Thanks TJ for the update on how everyone did. Looks like the talent from our league is doing well in tournaments. Great job being ambassadors for the league, and making us look good. And you are right, hopefully this can help bring more players, and teams to the OTFL, to make it even bigger and stronger.

RE: Unionville

To continue on the thoughts of TJ about the players and teams from Durham.

Rogues beat the King Gators to Win the B final. They looked great.

Brandon, Travis Hill, Freddie and myself played on the AA championship Spartans (all play for the Rogues in league play) and all live in Durham.

Well done all.

Andrew

Man, I can't believe I forgot to mention that lateral to Andrew on the INT, who then returned it about 80 yards in an absolute track race with the other team. What a display of that "Marshall" speed!

I remember that lateral to Andrew,he got the ball and turned to the defender and( smiled)and took off and the guy turned to run after him but didnt have a chance. Also Tony Stewart (Allblacks) put a very nice move on a defender in that game too.

RE: Unionville

That Tony Stewart move was nasty. The whole crowd, "Awwwwed!" at the same time. I saw a bunch of guys from Oshawa watching that game enjoying the football, burgers, beer, and female footballers! Ha ha!

It was interesting watching the CIS MVP quarterbacking the Rogues on Sunday as well.

RE: Unionville

I'm going to assume that the qb was glavic and not groulx from laval. Wish I had stuck around to watch some of that game.

Shout out to all the players/teams who represented the OTFL. DSKB, way to battle all weekend long.

The Rogues had Eric Glavic throwing and other brother Sasha Glavic(Hamilton Tigercats?)somebody from Europe on there team.It would of been a good show down if the Killer Beezzz had of made it to the finals.Killer Beezzz got a new weapon in Matthew Chang!!!!That was a all around great tournament,Im really glad I didnt have to play in the rain.

RE: Unionville

I thought Tony Stewart was playing with Trojans? Is he playing with a different team, or are you commenting on a game you were watching with him in it, as a player representing from the Durham region?

Just wondering

RE: Unionville

The Trojans were playing the Spartans in the AA final. Tony was playing against Andrew, Brandon, Fred, and Travis.
