Week 8 Report

There was a full docket of games on the schedule for Week 8 in the OTFL, with four of the nine games being played at the giant pothole that some like to call... Central High School. The first game of the day was a rematch of the first game of the year at Maxwell. The second and third games featured the Rivals in a double header against a B division foe and the second placed team in the C division. The final game of the day saw a B division team searching for their first win of the year against the bottom team in the C division.

Hawks vs. Thundercats

This game was pure domination by the Hawks, and there is not much to say on the Thundercats end other then the fact that Dylan Elliott recorded an INT during the Hawks opening drive. As for the Hawks, they got off to a comfortable lead early and didn't look back. The Hawks offence was led by QB Steve Gagnon and receivers Travis Thomas and Jeff Hernandez. Steve Gagnon threw 5 TDs with Travis catching 2 TDs and a 2-pt convert and Jeff catching 1 with 2 2-pt converts. On the defensive side for the Hawks both Travis and Andrew Collymore had an INT.

Final Score: Hawks 42 Thundercats 0
Game MVP: Steve Gagnon

Rivals vs. Sharks

As indicated by the score, this game was a defensive matchup as each teams defence was able to hold the other teams offence at bay. As for the offence, it was all Johnson. Aaron Johnson put the only points on the board for the Sharks as he caught the pass from QB Scott Bird. Unfortunately for the Sharks they were not able to convert on the PAT, and this proved to be costly. For the Rivals, OTFL All-Star Matty Johnson led the way on both sides of the ball as he recorded an INT and a TD. The most critical point of the game for the Rivals came on the PAT when Stu McNeil connected with Des Johnson for a 1-pt convert. This proved to be the difference in this one as the Rivals improved to 6-2 and the Sharks fell to 2-6.

Final Score: Rival 7 Sharks 6
Game MVP: Josh Devine

Rivals vs. Manimals

The third game of the day saw the Rivals on the back end of a double header against the .500 Manimals squad. There was a changeup at QB for the Rivals as Buzz threw in this one, and threw well at that. Buzz finished the game with 4 TD passes with 2 of them going to Josh Devine and the other 2 going to Mike Sperling. In saying that, the Manimals made this a close game led by the three headed monster of Justin Glover, Marc Punsammy, and Tyrone Isaacs. Each of these players recorded an INT and 6 points of their own. Conner Alexander for the Manimals threw the lone TD pass. In the end, the Rivals edged the Manimals by 7 points.

Final Score: Rivals 26 Manimals 19
Game MVP: Marlon Wong

Raiders vs. Atlas

The final game of the day consisted of two winless teams with one of them erasing that donut in the win column. The Raiders didn't have their typical QB in this one as the future Hall of Famer Al Puntus, and Matt Chang combined for 3 TD passes and 3 INTs. Cole Lafoy was on the receiving end of 2 of the TD passes and Mike Wells was on the receiving end of the other TD pass. However, the MVP went to Graham Houghton as he was able to stall numerous drives with his 5 sacks. As for Atlas they were not able to muster anything up offensively but did record 3 INTs. Michael Nicolaou had 2 of the INTs and Dan Nadeau had the other.

Final Score: Raiders 19 Atals 0
Game MVP: Graham Houghton
